Susan has approximately 20 years of experience working with children, youth, families specializing in mental health, child welfare and domestic violence. Susan has worked in hospitals, child welfare, shelters, community healthcare, and in the education setting.
She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University and earned her Master of Social Work degree from York University in Toronto, Ontario. Susan attended Harvard University’s Business School Online and earned a certificate in Management Essentials. Susan is a registered Social Worker, with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Susan has been trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, risk assessment, risk, and threat assessment, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, tragic response management, conflict resolution, and professional consultation.
Susan has adopted a client-centred approach utilizing various treatment modalities. Susan practices from an anti-oppressive framework and works in partnership with her clients to help them gain insight into challenges while helping them move forward and overcome obstacles that restrict them from living a balanced life. Susan has been recognized as York University placement supervisor for Master of Social Work students. Susan has a passion for mentoring, coaching, training, and providing clinical supervision. Susan has successfully supported many students completing their internships. Susan is providing clinical supervision to counsellors at Phare.
