Carmen Davies is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Victoria, BC. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling, where her graduate research focused on promoting healthy body image in women and girls through dance and movement interventions. Carmen has worked with a variety of populations in schools, homes, community agencies, and private practice. She believes in our inherent capacity for healing and transformation, that we are wired to not only heal, but to thrive and feel pleasure and connection. When provided the space and safety for inner exploration, she has seen how clients can connect to confidence, clarity, self-compassion and the core aliveness we all possess.
Carmen specializes in helping people with self-esteem and self-worth, body image, and anxiety. She is passionate about embodiment and supports her clients to feel more connected and at home in their bodies. Carmen also works with: perfectionism, relationships, life transitions, grief & loss, anger, depression, stress and overwhelm, sexuality, spirituality, and trauma
Carmen’s style is collaborative, caring and non-judgmental. She holds a person-centered, trauma informed perspective. Carmen takes a holistic approach, integrating the different aspects of the human experience. She believes each of us holds deep inner wisdom, and works to help clients unearth this. Her work is informed by mindfulness, attachment theory, neuroscience and feminist theory. She draws from evidence-based practices, including Somatic Therapy (body-centered), Focusing-Oriented Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Parts Work Therapy. Carmen believes effective therapy involves a trusting relationship between client and therapist. She works with her clients at their own pace, and as co-creators throughout their unique healing and growth process. Carmen is honoured to witness others expand into the fullness of who they are.
